CORVALIS, OR — ASU dominated much of the first half and cruised to a 40-24 win against Oregon State. With this win being number six of the season, ASU has achieved bowl eligibility.
Saturday’s win in Corvallis also marks the first time the Sun Devils have won at Reser Stadium since 2005.
ASU got rolling early, scoring on its first offensive possession of the football game. Redshirt junior quarterback Manny Wilkins found Kyle Williams from 23 yards out for one of his two touchdown passes of the day. The Williams score catch capped off a 4-play, 69-yard drive.
The Sun Devils defense also contributed to the point total, coming up with a safety late in the first quarter. They lead 16-0 after one quarter of play.
ASU led 30-7 at halftime, as the Sun Devils dominated most of the first half. ASU out gained the Beavers 318-105 yards through 30 minutes.
ASU’s ground attack was much of the offensive story as the Sun Devils garnered 286 yards on the ground, including 219 first-half yards. Senior running back Demario Richard led the way with 119 yards and three touchdowns. Fellow senior back Kalen Ballage was close behind him with 103 yards on 19 rushing attempts.
The Beavers attempted to mount a late comeback, but off of a bad snap late in the fourth quarter, junior defensive lineman Jojo Wicker recovered the fumble and the Sun Devils ran out the clock.
In the 16-point win, the Sun Devils totaled 453 yards to Oregon State’s 375.
ASU is going back to a bowl game for the first time since 2015.
