Welcome to Goldrush: Sonoran Skies - A music festival unlike any other

Goldrush is being held at Phoenix Raceway on Oct. 7 and 8. This year’s headliners include Alison Wonderland, Louis The Child, Tiesto, Zeds Dead and ZHU.

When I attended Goldrush music festival in 2021, I expected a fun concert with disco lights and a few decorations. What I did not expect was to have one of the most fun weekends of my life.

Between riding a ferris wheel, watching a live circus, dancing at a silent disco and listening to some of the best artists the electro-music industry has to offer, such as Tiesto, Zedd, Illenium and GRiZ, I had the experience of a lifetime.

The food was from Arizona vendors – street tacos, corn on the cob, pizza, chicken tenders and all-beef burgers were among the savory items offered. There were also drinks ranging from mixed drinks, seltzers, cocktails, Beatbox beverages and beers.

Concert-goers dressed up in all sorts of flashy memorabilia, including fishnets, gimmering tops and Doc Martens. Makeup ranged from red eyeliner and face sparkles to expensive lip gloss and rhinestones. It was one of the best-dressed crowds I’ve ever seen. But what stuck out to me the most was, unsurprisingly, the concert itself.

A flash of bass drops, multi-song mash-ups and vocals were accompanied by a flurry of beaming lights, shiny lasers and falling confetti. There were crowds on the fields, bleachers and near the stages dancing to the music.

I was among a crowd near the front of a stage jumping and singing along to the artist Zedd’s “Beautiful Now.”

During the entirety of the festival, I felt like I was living on cloud nine. I didn’t want to leave.

This year, I hope to go back to Goldrush music festival and experience just as fantastic of a weekend as I did the first time. Knowing how much fun I had two years ago, I have no doubt the 2023 Goldrush will be another incredible experience.
