UPSAHL Returns to Rebel Lounge Roots

Alternative pop artist and former Phoenician Taylor Upsahl, known primarily by her stylized stage name UPSAHL, returned to her Rebel Lounge roots Sept. 13 for her “Melt Me Down” tour.

UPSAHL got her start while opening for artists at the local venue, so to perform a sold-out show in her hometown during her second headline tour was a “full circle moment” for her. The setlist was composed of a variety of early classics and new hits, such as “Summer so hot,” and “Tears on the dancefloor,” two singles she released earlier this summer.

Before UPSAHL’s set started, openers Zoe Ko and Conor Burns took the stage, energizing the already hyped-up crowd for the night’s performances.

Zoe Ko, whose single “DIRT” blew up in the alt-pop TikTok community in March, performed a medley of songs for the crowd, including “Kiss My (Ah)” which was just released the day of the Phoenix performance.

The Bay Area’s Conor Burns brought his own unique energy to the show where he performed some of his latest releases alongside guitarist Jeff Keylor, who has worked with artists like The Kid Laroi and Landon Barker.

The set was divided into two thematic acts, the first resembling ice and the second fire, symbolic of the “Melt Me Down” tour theme. The tour acts were signified by costume changes. The first “icy” outfit was a cool blue two-piece latex set, complete with a silver puffer jacket. Mid-show she switched it up with a red latex bodysuit paired with matching knee-high boots.

During the second half of her set, UPSAHL brought out her sister Ryan to sing “Arizona,” an homage to their beginnings together. She also debuted an unreleased song that will be featured in the album she’s planning to release in early 2025.

The set was punctuated with flashing lights and plenty of crowd work from the singer, who aimed to bring a “club vibe” to her show. Based on the audience reaction, she seems to have accomplished just that.

UPSAHL’s tour will continue throughout America until Oct. 11, and after a short break, will return internationally in November. Full dates and concert information can be found on UPSAHL’s website. Blaze Radio’s full interview with UPSAHL can be found here on Spotify.
