On Sunday, Sept. 29, Still Woozy (Sven Gamsky) kicked off the second leg of his “Loveseat Tour” at the Marquee Theatre in Tempe in promotion of his recent album of the same name.
The Portland-based indie-pop artist released his second album “Loveseat” on June 27, 2024, where he built off his signature psychedelic and R&B-influenced sound from his first record in 2021 and string of singles since 2017.
“Loveseat” was met with positive reviews from fans and critics, who noted its uniquely cozy vibes, soft but diverse atmosphere, and personal introspection and inspiration, much like that of an old loveseat.
The show was catapulted by two opening acts – the lively Pawpaw Rod and groovy Gus Dapperton, who both captivated the audience with stunning performances that energized crowds while blending with the atmosphere that Woozy would carry later into the night. Pawpaw Rod, in particular, brought an energy unlike anything usually seen in opening acts, and his unique mix of R&B and indie elements, along with dancing and live instrumentation translated beautifully to the stage.
Woozy’s performance began with the second single from the latest album, “Again,” and continued with fan favorites from “Loveseat,” his 2021 debut album “If This Isn’t Nice, I Don’t Know What Is,” and viral hits “Goodie Bag” and “Lucy.”
The visual set of the show, composed of giant cut-out flowers like those seen on the “Loveseat” album cover, really helped to enhance the unique atmosphere of Woozy’s music throughout the venue, and the genuine connection between fans and Sven kept the energy alive for the entire performance.
Woozy’s music translated seamlessly to the live stage and this combined with a great setlist and inviting atmosphere, made it one of my favorite shows in recent memory.
The second leg of Still Woozy’s tour continues in Las Vegas and travels across much of the Western US and Europe, ending with recently announced tour dates in 2025 across Australia.
