Mid-Election Check-In: Harris and Trump Face Off

The 2024 presidential election is finally coming to a close, with many polls  releasing closing results as to who will be ruling for the next four years.

Donald Trump (R) currently leads the race with 198 electoral votes and is nearing the 270 electoral majority. Kamala Harris currently holds 112 electoral votes.

Trump has had a hot start to the night, winning states with a concrete  amount of electoral votes in southern states such as Florida (56.2%) and Texas (56%). In some Midwestern states that tend to lead more conservative, Trump has ultimately won with 55.8% in Ohio and 59.2% in Indiana.

Pennsylvania, which is projected to be the state that determines who wins the election, is currently being led by Trump at 51% compared to Harris at 48.1%.

One of the other major battleground states, Georgia, is another key race that may determine the election. Trump is currently leading in the polls with 51.3% compared to Harris’s 48%. Only 88% of the votes have been accounted for.

In some of the other swing state races, many of these states are currently leaning towards Trump, with Michigan (49.6%), Arizona (49.6%), and Wisconsin (50%) leaning red.

This won’t be a blowout race though.

Many of the states still haven’t been accounted for. Votes for California and Nevada are still being tallied, which are projected to catch Harris up with 60 electoral votes in total, 56 of them coming from California.

Aside from the main presidential election, the Senate races in different states are just as important.

Here in Arizona, Democratic Candidate Ruben Gallego is currently leading the polls with 52.5% compared to Kari Lake’s 45.8%.

In Ohio, there’s another tight Senate race between the incumbent Sherrod Brown and the Republican candidate Bernie Moreno. Moreno is currently leading with 50.9% compared to Brown’s 45.7%.

There are a lot more races to look forward to, so stay tuned to Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington and Idaho polls being released at 9:00 MST.
