Well-known rapper Destroy Lonely brought his large fanbase to the House of Blues in Anaheim on Sunday, Feb. 23, and made sure to create an authentic atmosphere that resonated with his music. With only a few concerts left in the U.S. for his recent album “Love Lasts Forever," Destroy Lonely has already inspired and encouraged many fans.
Lil 88 opened the show for Destroy Lonely. While still maintaining a simple setup, Lil 88 made sure to bring as much energy as possible to the crowd to hype them up for Destroy Lonely’s set. The amount of energy the crowd had was unimaginable. Not only were the fans having so much fun, but they were excited after Lil 88 had only played a few songs. Lil 88 performed songs by popular artists, including Metro Boomin, Playboi Carti, Future, and even Travis Scott. The crowd went crazy and continued to use that energy to howl their favorite songs by their favorite artists.
After Lil 88’s set, the energy was still high. Destroy Lonely started his set by walking into the darkness on the stage, revealing his presence and leaving the fans in anticipation of his performance. The first song of the night was “SYRUP SIPPIN,” and the chaos began. The wait was finally over and the crowd’s energy pursued throughout the night. The crowd went wild as they yelled out loud to the music. The energy during Destroy Lonely’s concert was unlike any other. After the initial chaos, Destroy Lonely sang “ABOUT MONEY,” which reinforced the fans’ passion. Fans wore his past and current merchandise, yelled out along to the lyrics, and reenacted the enthusiasm that was shown in his songs. Destroy Lonely continued with popular songs, but of course a crowd favorite was “NOSTYLIST.”
It was interesting to see how the crowd reacted to every song as if it were the first of the night. The crowd enhanced the experience of the show more than any concert that I have attended and it was a pleasure and interesting to be around.
After seeing the high spirits and enthusiasm that was created and enhanced by Destroy Lonely’s music, it is clear why his fanbase is ever growing with each show he performs and each song he creates.
