On the third stop of his Second Wind Tour, Daniel Seavey took the stage at the Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix Sunday night.
The first fans that arrived were Kaylee Primeaux and Harold Murphy, who arrived around 4:30 a.m.
Primeaux, who frequently travels across the country for concerts, said she didn’t mind the long wait. Murphy, who came from Colorado, said, “The first couple of hours went by super quick, and we honestly just made fun out of it.” Primeaux said they saw Seavey get out of the tour bus, and even got to pet his dog!
The meet and greet began at 5 p.m., and I had the chance to experience it myself. The package included a cello shaped VIP badge, a signed poster and the opportunity to meet and take a photo with Seavey. He was super sweet, and meeting him is an experience I definitely recommend.
His first opener, Kyle Kelly, came on stage at 7:30 p.m., and the crowd quickly became fans. The crowd wanted Kelly’s 5 Seconds of Summer t-shirt and he said, “Hell no, I had to search through the bins for this!”
The crowd lit up when Kelly sang his newest single “OMG,” and his cover of Katy Perry’s “Hot N Cold” had everyone jumping around and singing.

The second opener of the tour was Sombr, who told the crowd that Elton John played his trending song “back to friends” on his radio show! To see Sombr’s reaction, click here.
Sombr also played his brand new song “undressed,” which was a great heartbreak anthem! To check out what he’s up to now, click here.
Seavey started off his beachy set with fan favorites, “Waves,” “Sunny Isles” and “Second Wind.” A few times throughout each show he will pick a fan and sing directly to them during a song.
During his performance of “Second Wind,” he singled me out and sang to me — it felt like a scene straight out of a movie. A tradition that he does during this song is saying “And we’re moving, and we’re moving” as he shakes his hips around throughout the song!
For each show, Seavey creates something called a “looper song,” where he first lets the crowd pick any song. After a song is chosen, he live records different instruments and vocals off of memory, and then puts them on a loop. Some instruments he used were a piano, cello, guitar, and drums! He said he is, “Pretty much producing a song live.”
Some prepared fans made him a poster with the covered options of A, B and C for him to choose from. He first chose and performed letter B, which ended up being his own song, “Give It A Week.” Since it was a shorter song, Seavey let Phoenix get two looper songs! Everyone then collectively agreed on option C, which ended up being the “Story of My Life” by One Direction!
Seavey then saw a guy holding up a sign that said, “Can my wife get your shirt?” Seavey said that it was his favorite shirt, but still gave it to them for the husband’s dedication!
Seavey then sang the song “Fallin' (Adrenaline)” that he made with his old band Why Don’t We. This performance put a bandaid on the hearts of the heartbroken Why Don’t We fans in the crowd who missed their favorite band that sadly had to separate due to legal issues with their old management.
During the meet and greet, I told Seavey about my aunt who had passed away from cancer a few years ago. I then handed him a cross bracelet and told him how thankful I am for his music, especially the song “The Older You Get.” Seavey put on the bracelet I gave him and wore it for the rest of the night!
In “The Older You Get,” he has a line that says, “Sometimes the cancer goes away, and sometimes it don’t.” When it came time to sing that line during the Phoenix show, he locked eyes with me and sang it to me, which is a moment I will never forget.
During “The Older You Get,” was also a fan project! There were hundreds of paper hearts that everyone held up during the song that each said “Proud of U,” to which Seavey was extremely appreciative of.
There is a part of “The Older You Get” where fans scream the lyrics, “And you know your favorite band ain’t getting back together,” so loud that it scares him! This was yet another part of the show giving heartbroken fans a chance to heal!
Seavey then left and returned for the encore, where he performed his songs “Can We Pretend That We’re Good?,” and “Other People.”
The Second Wind Tour was an unforgettable experience, leaving everyone in tears and filled with a sense of fulfillment.
