The Chicago Bears’ number one contributor in their week five rout of the Washington Commanders, D.J. Moore was crucial to the Bears’ first victory on the year. Helping the Bears passing offense catch their stride in a 40-20 win, Moore is invaluable to this team. Racking up an extraordinary 230 yards and three touchdowns on eight catches, Moore is just the fifth receiver this century to put up a stat line of this caliber. Coming up just short of a franchise record of receiving yards, Moore truly had a game for the ages, only 19 yards short of ALshon Jeffrey’s single-game franchise record. Adding to an already impressive season, Moore has been one of the few highlights on a poor Bears roster.

In return, the Blazers received guard Malcolm Brogdon, center Robert Williams III, a 2024 first-round pick, and a 2029 first-round pick. Holiday had spent the last three years in Milwaukee where he was selected to the All-Star team for only the second time in his career in 2023. He also won a championship in 2021 with the help of former MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. Holiday was a centerpiece in the deal that sent Damian Lillard to Milwaukee, and didn’t fit on the Blazers team of young and potentially emerging stars, so he was immediately flipped to Boston in exchange for more young talent.

College basketball is a month away, and with that comes the excitement of non-conference basketball. Of course, every top tier team will schedule a handful of “buy games” against severely inferior opponents, but we are also in an age where coaches actively look to schedule games against fellow elite programs. There are probably 50 games that are worthy of recognition, but I will only highlight ten of them. A couple of limits are in place, however, as I will not include games from multi-team tournaments like the Maui Invitational and I will only feature a team twice at most. Without further ado, get ready to mark your calendar with these matchups.

During the WNBA off-season, many players continue playing basketball by competing for European teams. Some in recent years have been hesitant to do so for various reasons. Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier stopped playing overseas when she gave birth to her first child in 2022 but says that was just one of the reasons she stepped away. She added it strains her family having to be away six months out of the year, and finding childcare in a foreign country can be difficult. Last year, New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart suited up for Fenerbahce, a Turkish club. Still, with her wife, Marta Xargay, expecting the couple's second child very soon, she was unsure whether she wanted to continue playing overseas.
