Sophie Powers delivered an electric performance Dec. 6 at the Valley Bar in Phoenix. The singer-songwriter from Ontario, Canada, promised a fun evening for those in attendance — and she did not disappoint. Powers performed at 9:00 p.m. right before the main event, headliner Wicca Phase Springs Eternal, took the stage. However, despite being an opener, she found a way to raise the crowd's energy and get them invested in her performance.

Arizona senator Kyrsten Sinema has changed her party affiliation. Formerly a member of the Arizona Democratic party, Sinema has announced that she feels her viewpoints are better represented by the bi-partisan Independent Party. This switch comes following a recent disconnect between Sinema and the Democratic Party on multiple issues, primarily related to the government spending budget. Sinema has been critiqued by Democrats and those on the left for opposing an end to the filibuster and voting against social spending packages.

Local bands do it best. The Tucson musicians known as The Basements have already achieved greatness after making their debut onto the Tucson music scene just a short while ago. Winning the 2021 DUSK Battle of the Bands competition, this band is prepared to go up against some of the best, and they are only gaining momentum as they continue to release new music and expand their live performances.
